Programs and Activities:
- Community Sexual Reproductive Health &Rights and HIV&AIDS
Aims at increased utilization and quality of comprehensive Sexuality and Reproductive Health (SRH) services, increased quality and delivery of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Reduction of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and increased acceptance of Sexual Diversity and Gender Identity and spread of HIV/AIDS is halted and begins to reverse in Western Kenya. Under this program there are three interventions being implemented,we work closely with MOH and work through community health volunteers to reach out to the target groups in the rural areas.We do School Health project, Menstrual Hygiene management and education and awareness Outreaches on health matters.
2. Economic and social support services Programme
The program aim is to address food insecurity of OVCs/Guardians who are largely widows and marginalized community, improve access to improved diet by the OVCs and improve access to quality education to OVC in primary, secondary and post -secondary education. SAIPEH works with children in difficult circumstances. Under this program there are five interventions being implemented namely;
- Educational scholarship support-we give fees to students and monitor their performance. Parents are organized to make school and home visits
- Day care centre, we provide food support to children with support of their guardians and also support those children to go to school by paying school fees and also provision of school learning materials and uniform
- Tailoring school, we have girls who train as apprentice in our tailoring school to learn skills in dress making and fashion design
- Saving and table banking, our guardians are organised in groups and make savings, borrow to engage small businesses.
- Agriculture and Nutrition, we support parents to plant bananas,potatoes,vegetables,keep poultry to help them earn in come
- Universal health care, through Health cover that is SHIF last respect.
- Promotion of women and child rights
3. Environment, Water, Climate change and sanitation Programme
SAIPEH is helping the community to access clean water by protecting springs and digging borehole. The community forms a water users’ committee to ensure the spring/borehole is we used and maintained. This has reduced water bone diseases, distanced taken for women to travel to water points and allowed women to use that time to do other jobs. Other activities under this program include;Toilet construction, Water treatment and Planting of trees in relation to the climate change.We work with youth groups,women groups who plant trees in nurseries and sale to people and institutions and initiate climate resilience activities
4. Advocacy and capacity building Programme
- Activities under this program include:
Training of groups on leadership skills, Minute writing techniques.Record keeping. Fund raising,Simple book keeping group formation and management. Social accountability,Linking groups to existing Government programs such as Women Enterprise Fund and Youth Fund and fund raising skills. We train teams on memorandum development, budget tracking, lobbying skills in order for them to engage the leadership for effective resource allocation and service delivery.
